Why Hawaii should be your next holiday...
If Hawaii has been sitting on your bucket list… consider this your sign.
I’ve just returned from an unforgettable 7-day Hawaii itinerary exploring Oahu and Kauai, and I can confidently say this destination lives up to the hype and then some.
What I loved most? You get two completely different travel experiences in one trip the energy, culture and iconic sights of Oahu, paired with the raw, untouched beauty of Kauai.
And the best part? It’s an easy direct flight from Australia, making it far more accessible than most people think.
Oahu is everything you imagine when you think of Hawaii and more.
It’s vibrant, it’s cultural, it’s scenic, and it has that perfect mix of relaxation and adventure.
Stay: Sheraton Waikiki Beach Resort
Perfectly positioned on Waikiki Beach, this resort puts you right in the heart of the action with ocean views, beachfront access, and everything within walking distance.
My Top “WOW” Moments in Oahu
Sunrise on Waikiki Beach
This was pure magic. Watching the sky slowly light up over the ocean, with palm trees swaying and the beach coming to life… it’s one of those moments you just don’t forget.
Sunset Sail Along Waikiki
Cocktail in hand, cruising along the coastline as the sun sets behind Diamond Head this is Hawaii at its absolute best.
North Shore Eco Tour Adventure
If you do one thing outside Waikiki make it this.
Exploring the North Shore through ATV trails and hikes gave such a different perspective of the island. It’s lush, wild, and so much more than just beaches.
Don’t skip the North Shore it was one of my biggest highlights and completely changed how I see Oahu.
Let’s talk about the Hula Pie at Duke’s Waikiki…
If you know, you know and if you don’t, trust me… you need to.
It’s iconic for a reason and the perfect way to end a beachside dinner in Waikiki
But also make sure you head out for a shaved Ice or even a dole whip
Kauai is completely different to Oahu, quieter, greener, and unbelievably scenic.
It’s known as the “Garden Isle” for a reason… and this is where you really slow down and soak it all in.
Stay: OUTRIGGER Kauaʻi Beach Resort & Spa
Set on 25 acres of lush beachfront land, this felt like a true tropical escape and a perfect base to explore the island.
Standout Stay: The Royal Sonesta Kauai
Out of all the hotels we saw, The Royal Sonesta Kauai was my absolute favourite.
The suites? Next level.
Spacious, luxurious, and the kind of place you walk into and instantly think — “I could stay here forever.”
Kauai Rum Safari
Such a unique experience cruising through a plantation, learning about local agriculture, and of course… tasting the rum along the way.
Waimea Canyon
Often called the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific,” and honestly… it lives up to it. The colours, the scale, the views breathtaking.
Hanapepe Food Tour
One of the best ways to experience Kauai discovering local flavours, hidden gems, and the stories behind them.
Don’t miss the Kauai Museum — it gives so much depth to the island and its story.
Pack for Warm Days (and the odd shower)
Light clothing is key, but bring a jacket and umbrella — tropical weather can change quickly.
Use Reef-Safe Sunscreen
Protect the reefs while you’re enjoying them 🌊
Be Prepared for Tipping
Don’t Forget Your ESTA
Required for entry into the USA — don’t leave this until the last minute.
